Changing batteries isn't necessary when you install the Kidde wire-in smoke detector. You can interconnect up to 24 units in your home or office. 18 of these can be initiators. When one alarm sounds, all units do the same. The alarm has a 10-year sealed lithium battery backup. This provides continuous protection during power outages. The smoke detector locks to prevent removal of the battery or alarm. This unit features an end-of-life chirp from time of activation. It also includes a silencer and test button.
